Updated: November 11th, 2009 (courtesy of Eric Koo) The 4th Annual CAPT Vancouver Pharmacy Technician Conference This year CAPT Vancouver was thrilled to hold the 4th annual pharmacy technician conference! Over a hundred and twenty registrants celebrated this event as we prepare to embark on our soon-to-be-regulated profession. This amazing educational event was held October 16th and 17th, 2009 at the River Rock Casino Resort, in Richmond, British Columbia and provided a great opportunity for pharmacy technicians to learn about the new and exciting technician initiatives and the challenges which are coming about.
On Friday evening the conference was launched with networking sessions including vendor exhibits, and a keynote presentation by Jon Wilson (MSIP Program Coordinator) on Musculoskeletal Injury Prevention which focused on how to maintain a safe posture with the physical demands at work and how good body mechanics can minimize the physical demands at work. This exciting social event was followed by a live performance by the renowned Temptations at the River Rock Theatre Show.
Saturday brought about a full day of learning. Presenters spoke on such diverse topics as: Innovative roles for Pharmacy Technician: Pharmacotherapy Evaluation and Optimization; Clinical Pharmacy Support Technicians; Specialized Oncology Pharmacy Technician Service; Information Services Pharmacy Technician Services; Technician Verification in the Community Pharmacy; Techs Energized and Motivated; Entry-to-Practice Examination for Pharmacy Technicians; Moving Mountains – A Journey of Reflection, Discovery and Inspiration; Moving Forward with Pharmacy Technician Regulation: and the Power of Personal Leadership – Attitude Makes the Difference. This particular speaker inspired participants with practical strategies to overcome negative barriers.
The topics were very exciting and informative and allowed for a great opportunity to expand networking and open discussions to share questions and concerns about many hot topics.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank and recognize the following people for there assistance in making this conference a huge success.
I wish to thank registrants for participating in this exciting event and look forward to seeing you at the next Pharmacy Technician Conference.
Sincerely,
